MORE ABOUT ME

I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from University College London in 2007. I spent 11 years working for the NHS before moving in to independent practice. I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and specialise in working with children with a range of speech, language and communication needs. My area of particular interest is working with children with additional needs.

I am passionate about promoting communication development in children and young people. I believe in a Total Communication approach and will support children to develop their skills to meet their individual potential. I feel that working jointly with parents/carers and other professionals will achieve the best outcomes for the child. By working together, we take a holistic approach. The aim of Key Communication is to give you the keys to unlock your child’s communication.

I have experience of working with children and young people across the paediatric age range (from birth to 18 years). I have experience of working in clinic settings, home environments, nursery and pre-school settings, mainstream schools, special educational needs schools, community youth offending teams and young offenders’ institutes. I have worked with a wide range of professionals, including Paediatricians, Health Visitors, Educational Professionals, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Dietitians.

I have a wealth of experience in training others in the above settings and supporting those to understand the needs of the children and young people they work with as well as how to support their development.

I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice. I am registered with the Health Care Professionals Council and hold my own enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service). I am a member of several Clinical Excellence Networks and a clinical supervision group. This ensures I keep up-to-date with relevant research and training and am able to deliver my services to the highest quality.

I am able to offer assessment and intervention sessions in home, educational and childcare settings. I can provide bespoke training and support for a range of childcare settings. I use a specialist notes based system that is GDPR compliant and fully secure. It allows for effective communication between myself and the parents/carers to be able to share and track goals, share other documents (such as reports from other services) and to provide you with reports and advice in between sessions.

As a mum myself, I understand the passion and desire to support your child to get to the level they are able to and to be as happy and confident as they can be in their life. I believe speech, language and communication skills are key elements to achieving this. I feel that I can give advice that is clear, appropriate and achievable within the constraints of every day busy family life.

I work Mondays to Fridays (3 days within school hours, 2 longer days) term time only.
